Battle with greens proves costly in Louisiana
Written by Bruce Young

paul_day_two_australian_openAfter returning to complete six holes of his second round on Saturday morning at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open, Paul has been unable to make up the necessary shots needed to work his way into the field for the weekend.

An opening round of 73 had Paul behind the eightball in his quest to meet the likely cut score of 1 under. When he left the course on Friday afternoon with still six holes remaining after weather had caused a disruption to play, he was still one shot from where he needed to be if he was to make the cut but on his return on Saturday he was unable to make any ground.

Paul's tee to green game was solid enough but on the greens it was a battle. Paul recorded 32 and 33 putts in his opening two rounds and at this level that is never going to get the job done. It is an area of his game on which he will need to work if he is to do well at next week's Stonebrae Clasic in the San Fransisco area.
