Paul has missed the cut at the Melwood Prince George's County Open in Maryland after a stumble during his final nine holes brought undone a lot of good work to that point.

After an opening round of even par 72 it was clear Paul had a lot of work to do to make the cut at the weather disrupted event but after reaching the turn in four under 32 he was well placed and at that point inside the likely cutline of 3 under.

A triple bogey at his 12th hole, the third of the course, set him back and bogies at each of his final two holes sealed his fate.

Paul will now play next week's Knoxville Open hoping that the form he has shown in patches in recent weeks can be consolidated over four rounds.
