Paul awaits Mayakoba Classic

paul_-_sony_open_jan_05 Paul is home in Florida this week preparing for next week's Mayakoba Classic in Mexico. After missing out on a start at the Nissan Open and then just missing out in a playoff for one of the qualifying spots on Monday, Paul is assured of a start at the new event on the USPGA Tour next week.

"I  have played a couple of times this week, in fact I played about an hour or so from here at a Gary Player designed course today with my manager Mick and I am feeling good enough about the way I am strking the ball. I have neglected my short game a little in recent weeks and that is what has let me down and I need to work on that.  I have always struggled on the greens on the West Coast also, many of which have a lot of poa annua grass at this time of the year so hopefully with a bit of work and on different greens over the next few weeks that side of my game will improve.

Paul needs a good finish in Mexico as the re-rank will take effect after the event there and the number starts Paul will gain in the upcoming weeks will be dependant on where he sits on the re-rank list. Graduates from the Qualifying School and the Nationwide Tour are subject to a re-rank after the first seven events of the season

The Mayakoba Golf Classic is to be played at the El Camaleón Golf Club at Riviera Maya-Cancun on a new Greg Norman designed golf course there. The event is being staged by Greg Norman's company, Great White Shark Enterprises.

Cancun is on the shores of the Caribbean and is a major Mexican resort area.
