Paul has had good success in this event when he has played it although his win in the event in 1997 came in Odessa rather than at the currrent venue. Paul also finished runner up in Odessa in 1999. At this stage Paul is destined to play Stage Two qualifying for the PGA Tour in mid November, although he could avoid having to play there and go straight to the finals should be claw his way inside the top 40 by then. He would need around US$100,000 more in the remaining five events to do so as he is currently 102nd on the money list. A couple of wins or a win and another top three and all those concerns would llikely be behind him. Paul has put together several good rounds of late and if he can continue on with that following his enforced break, then he stands a chance of making considerable progress. |

After a frustrating few weeks where Paul's 2009 Nationwide Tour status has not been sufficient to gain starts in events in Utah and Idaho, he is back in business this week at the WNB Golf Classic in Midland in Texas, looking to sharpen his game for the remaining weeks of the season which now appear likely to include a visit to PGA Tour School.
