Unable to gain a start in last week's Boise Open Paul spent the latter part of the week working with coach Alex Murray and continues to be enthusiastic with his progress. Paul last played this event in 2004 when he finished 8th after an opening round of 66 had him in contention for most of the week. The Shadow Hills Country Club measures just over 7000 yards and is a par 72 layout designed initially by Alex Kindsvater in 1961 but redesigned by Bill Robinson in 1992. Paul is currently in 118th position on the money list and is guaranteed exemption to Stage Two of the PGA Tour qualifying in November as a winner on the Nationwide Tour during the past five years. In order that he earns his way direct to the Final Stage he will need to be inside the top 40 on this year's money list and to avoid Tour School altogether he needs to finish inside the top 25.
