After an opening round of 77 at the Livermore Valley Country Championship, Paul was always under the gun if he had any intentions of playing the weekend in the event in California but two double bogies over the closing stages of round two did not help his cause. Although the leader, J.J. Killeen, has a commanding lead at ten under par, the Greg Norman designed layout is a tough one. Paul had worked his way back to within striking distance of making the cut when he turned in one under 35 and was at that stage four over for the tournament and only one shot from the cut mark. While Paul picked up a couple of birdies on the way in he double bogied the 13th and 18th holes and his chance was gone. Paul's new driver continues to work well for him in terms of distance but he is still a little wayward and his putting was not good this week especially on Thursday. The Nationwide Tour now has a week off before returning at the Athens Regional Foundation Classic on April 17th, an event Paul won in 2006. |
